Healthcare professionals in Chico, CA have a faster, more flexible way to complete their American Heart Association® BLS, ACLS, and PALS training. Self-Guided Learning™ courses combine self-paced online learning with an independent skills session at a CPR Verification Station™ learning center—no fixed class times, no group schedules, no waiting.
Safety Training Seminars, located at 527 Flume St, Suite 15 in Chico, offers exactly this. Whether you work at Enloe Medical Center on Fifth and Magnolia, rotate through Adventist Health Medical Pavilion, or commute from the California State University, Chico campus on 400 W. First Street, you can complete your AHA training around your actual schedule.
Here’s everything you need to know.
Self-Guided Learning™ is an American Heart Association® course format that lets learners complete two components independently:
Upon successful completion of both components, learners receive an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard. The specific course for BLS, ACLS, and PALS through this format is called HeartCode® Complete.
This approach is not the same as traditional classroom learning or instructor-led blended courses. There is no live instructor during the skills session. The CPR Verification Station learning center provides real-time, objective performance feedback using simulation technology—the system measures your skills against AHA-defined criteria automatically.
HeartCode® is a trademark of the American Heart Association.
The online portion of a Self-Guided Learning course uses True Adaptive™ learning powered by Area9 Lyceum. This technology continuously assesses your knowledge and confidence, then adjusts the content path based on your responses.
What that means practically: if you already understand a topic, the system moves you through it quickly. If you have knowledge gaps, it spends more time there. You progress at your own pace, on any compatible device—desktop, laptop, or tablet.
You can complete this component from anywhere. Sitting in a coffee shop near Upper Bidwell Park, finishing a night shift, or traveling between facilities—it doesn’t matter.
Important: Completing the online learning activity alone does not result in an AHA Course Completion eCard. Both components must be finished.
After completing the online learning activity, you schedule a hands-on skills session at the CPR Verification Station™ learning center at Safety Training Seminars’ Chico location.
The process runs in three steps:
The skills session takes approximately 30 minutes. The CPR Verification Station learning center objectively measures performance against AHA guidelines—compression depth, rate, recoil, and ventilation quality are all tracked. You can repeat the required skills activities as many times as needed to achieve a passing score.
No instructor evaluates you. No group session waits for stragglers. You go at your pace, verify your skills independently, and walk out with your eCard the same day.
Safety Training Seminars in Chico offers Self-Guided Learning courses for three core AHA programs:
Self-Guided Learning courses work best for specific types of learners:
If you prefer direct instructor feedback, or you’re a first-time learner with no prior healthcare knowledge, the traditional in-person classroom format at Safety Training Seminars may suit you better. Both options are available at 527 Flume St, Suite 15.

Top 3 things I loved: 1) Friendly and knowledgeable instructors who clearly explained BLS, ACLS and PALS 2) Hands on practice that made CPR and first aid skills stick, and I left with my CPR certification 3) Flexible class times and affordable rates for the CPR Classes and BLS certificationPosted on Casey BrownTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was a little nervous for this CPR class because everything is virtual but I would use this recertification again. It was so flexible in the scheduling and the feedback on the computer was very helpful. I've been certified for over ten years and learned some things about how to improve just because of the computer system.Posted on Christina “Tiki” BowenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I took my PALS skills session through Safety Training Seminars at their Chico location, after competing the PALS online portion, and it was such a smooth experience! The setup was super convenient and straightforward. They emailed me door and classroom access codes, and everything was clearly organized. The VAM (voice-assisted mannequin) made completing the skills test straightforward and interactive. Everything worked perfectly, and the whole process was efficient from start to finish. I even received my PALS provider ecard shortly after completing the skills portion. Highly recommend them for anyone needing their AHA PALS, ACLS, or BLS renewals!
